Advent Celebration 2020
Come let us Wait and Sing together
"Advent is a season of the liturgical year observed in many Christian churches as a time of expectant waiting and preparation for both the celebration of the Nativity of Jesus at Christmas and the return of Jesus at the Second Coming. Advent is the beginning of the Western liturgical year. The term "Advent" is also used in Eastern Orthodoxy for the 40-day Nativity Fast, which has practices different from those in the West." For me, the season of Advent is the time of year we get to sing together, in harmony, the beautiful songs that lead into Christmas. The Church is decorated in greenery and ribbons, smells like Evergreen, and the wood in the pews is polished to a warm glowing sheen.
This year, 2020, because of the sheltering in place around the world, and especially the limitation of singing together in one place, the season of Advent will be very different for many of us. How will we celebrate this lovely waiting season? How are we to celebrate the expectancy of something new and wonderful coming when the world is so isolated, afraid and alone? Where will we come together and sing of Hope, Peace, Joy and Love?
My answer to those questions is here. Come let us sing together here. Let us share the Hope, Peace, Joy and Love of this season, here in the sacred space of Nurturing Spirit Music. Let's celebrate together in harmony and sing the songs we love. Let's have what the "who's in Whoville" called their "Dahoo Doreys" and sing anyway.
You're invited to join us this year, on the four Sunday's in Advent for an online celebratory singing connection. Beginning at 4pm Eastern time on Sunday November 29th and continuing for the next 3 Sundays we will gather together in fellowship for an hour. Bring your favorite Advent carols and lessons to share. We will even find a way to sing them together and rejoice that even so, we sing.
Register for this free, interdenominational event and you'll receive the online link and password to join, as well as some sharing and music links throughout those weeks to help prepare the way for the Christ consciousness to enter into your heart.
